 The Grand Council Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America  Foundation has been very fortunate to be a special part of the lives of these children and their families.  Our project funding has helped to improve their quality of life.  Here are two of our success stories:

      "Hand Camp"
 Potosi, MO

What is Hand Camp?

  • A weekend retreat for children ages 6-12 with hand or upper limb differences and their families
  • A time for kids and their families to meet others facing the same challenges and participate in fun activities.

What happens at Camp?

  • Horseback riding
  • Archery
  • Climbing wall
  • Fishing
  • Team building games
  • Learning from older patients who are "Junior Counselors"
  • Parent groups for support, learning, and sharing
  • Campers and their families stay 3 days and 2 nights
  • Have fun and make new friends!

"Camp Independence"
    Babler State Park St. Louis, MO

What is Camp Independence?

  • For children with cerebral palsy or spina bifida between the ages 8-12
  • For kids who want to be more independent in self-care skills, socialization and mobility

What happens at Camp?
 

  • Swimming
  • Crafts
  • Exercise
  • Games
  • Campfires
  • Educational groups
  • Campers have fun, explore, learn and make new friends!
  • Campers stay 3 days and 2 nights in accessible cabins with Shriners Hospital staff members and volunteers.
